What effects does the Covid19 crisis have on elementary school pupils? What does this mean for their cognitive and social development? And what can schools to reduce learning gaps? Which forms of distance learning seem to be most effective? We will answer these questions in the coming period, thanks to a COVID-19 subsidy from National Science Foundation. We are proud of National Science Foundation\u2019s appreciation of our project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-creation and knowledge sharing <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research into the effects of COVID-19 on elementary school and their pupils is carried out in co-creation with parties from education and science. We work together with the Nationaal Cohortonderzoek Onderwijs (NCO), the municipality of Amsterdam, several school boards and the Inspectorate of Education. The insights and toolkits to be developed are made available to all teachers, school leaders, administrators and policy officers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can you expect? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2020, we will present a toolkit containing insights into effective approaches for addressing the learning gaps. And in the spring of 2021, we will share insights into the effects of the COVID19 crisis on student performance and well-being. By the end of 2021, we will also have insight into the effects on pupils’ social development. In a meantime, lab days, new instruments and other tools will be available for schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
