Pam de Vries

PhD researcher

Pam de Vries is a PhD student within Education Lab and ACLA (Amsterdam Center for Learning Analytics) research groups at the VU. Before this, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in educational sciences followed by a research master’s degree in educational sciences, both at Utrecht University.

As a researcher in the Teacher Lab, Pam works on various projects surrounding the teacher shortage. For example, she works with CBS Microdata to research the potential of the ‘silent reserve’ – teachers who have left the profession. She is also working on a qualitative study in collaboration with the municipality of Amsterdam to find out which factors influence the departure and retention of teachers in primary education. Furthermore, the focus of her PhD is on the professionalization of teachers, for which several studies will soon be started.
