Vera is currently doing her PhD on language outcomes in Dutch primary and secondary education, while also trying to understand the relation of critical and creative thinking skills on these outcomes. This is done by writing several papers on language outcomes and its relation to these skills, such as a paper on the relation between language outcomes and social relations, language outcomes and problem solving skills and a systematic literature review on language delays of Dutch students between the ages of 9 and 15. Additionally, part of this research project is done in collaboration with Bernardinus College in Heerlen, where the aim is to find out how their students are doing in the area of language outcomes, as well as to create and implement interventions regarding the school’s writing education.
