Ilja Cornelisz is part of the management team of the Education Lab. He is responsible for the embedding in the Vrije Universiteit and (shared) project leader of the themes ‘ICT and innovation’. Within this theme he is co-responsible for research into innovations for algorithmic signaling of risk schools and sustainable implementation of ICT in education.

Ilja obtained his PhD in education economics in 2014 on the theme of free school choice and much of his research since then has focused on evaluating (policy) interventions and conducting field experiments in education. As founder and director of the Amsterdam Center for Learning Analytics (ACLA), he is closely involved in the research of this group that focuses on risk forecasting, behavioral education and personalized learning.
