Nienke Ruijs

Senior researcher

I am Nienke Ruijs, and I work as a senior researcher/project leader at Education Lab/Teacher Lab. In my research, I focus on education policy and student outcomes. I am particularly interested in teachers and in students with special educational needs.

In Teacher Lab, I conduct and supervise several project in which we aim to develop and evaluate interventions to mitigate the quantitative and qualitative teacher shortages in the Netherlands. In these projects, I really enjoy working together with schools and policy makers to design interventions that work for teachers and schools.

Together with my colleagues at the Dutch Education Inspectorate and the VU, I am running several projects about students with Special Educational needs. In one of these projects, we study the impact of special education on students with SEN using a budget cut in several regions in the Netherlands.
